Katesgrove Community Allotment

The Katesgrove Community Association (KCA) has a community allotment at Waterloo Meadows which attracts a diverse group of people interested in growing their own food as an active part of the wider community of Katesgrove.

An urban Secret Garden, tucked away on Western Elms Avenue, behind Reading West Station and the Lidl/McDonalds retail park.

Southcote GrowAllot Community Allotment

The purpose of the organisation is to teach local residents the art of sowing, planting and maintaining a variety of vegetables, fruit and flowers. Allotment members will be able to share in the harvest of vegetables, fruit and flowers, be welcome to attend sessions run by the garden tutor on how to grow food and be expected to get involved in the management and maintenance of the site by attending the AGM and workdays.

St Nicolas Centre Grounds

As part of a new community hub at the St Nicolas Church the grounds are being developed to provide space for the wider community, space for people, growing food, cooking food, encouraging wild life through social activities, workshops, and designing using permaculture structures.

Whitley GrowAllot

A place where Whitley residents of all ages and community groups can plant, grow and harvest herbs, fruit, vegetables and flowers. You can decide what to plant and we will help you to grow your own. The garden space is for you, your family and your community. It offers a safe and peaceful environment and a real chance to connect with other people. Get involved and change your life! Please note that our community sessions are open to all local residents and they are FREE. You or your organisation can become a member for £2 a year, enjoy the harvest and use your community garden when you like. For non-members a bag of harvested produce costs 50p. What are you waiting for? Here’s your opportunity to learn new skills, boost your diet, feel better and healthier, connect to our four seasons and build stronger community ties.
